It's Déjà Vu All Over Again

Some things you just can't make up.

Back in January, we reported that Heath Shuler would be playing in RFK for the Congressional baseball game, a completely appalling situation that was only slightly rectified by the fact that we got a funny quote in Roll Call. As the game got closer, there were numerous reports about how the Democrats had high hopes for Shuler:

But clearly the party's great hope is former Redskin Heath Shuler, newly elected from North Carolina's 11th District. "He's hit about three or four out of the ballpark in practice. It's hard to believe he was just a quarterback, he looks like a linebacker. The problem is he can't run" -- owing to a career-ending foot injury. "He's either going to hit a home run or a single, then we have to get him a pinch runner," said Doyle.

OK -- high hopes for Shuler before he plays. Check.

The game was on Monday night, and in a shocking development, Shuler somehow managed to not rise to the occasion:

Expectations were great for Rep. Heath Shuler, of North Carolina, who played quarterback in the NFL. But a foot injury relegated him to be a designated hitter, and he struck out every time.

Injury. Check.

Crapping in the bed at RFK. Check.

Is it 1995 again?

I played basketball with him in Haywood Co. They have a rec league basketball every year. I know that he played the two years that I did. We played on Mondays and Thursdays and it was 5 on 5. His team only had 5 to 6 players at any given time. So that means that he did not sit out much if at all. We played this league for about 2 months. He ran up and down that court and jumped like all the rest of us. He did where this little white brace on his ankle. But he had no problem running or jumping. I think what happend in washington is easy to figure out. He was a star at his high school in Swain Co North Carolina. Same goes in Tennessee. But he never did fit in the NFL system. Could not read defence and could not throw to the recivers. I think he did get hurt but I also think that was a easy way out. He knew he was never going to be no better than he was. And he was used to being a star. So he took the money and ran and used the career-ending thing to make it look a little better for himself. If you can run up and down a basketball court and jump I do not feel that you are hurt as bad that you say you are Mr Shuler and I use the term Mr losely.

Vince, you are an idiot. How you can relate football injuries to political issues is beyond me. Actually, I guess it isn't. You cannot spell and use poor grammar, so I guess it is to be expected. If all who oppose Mr. Shuler are like you, he should enjoy a long and distinguished career in Washington.

LOL What did I say that had anything to do with political issues? I did not even Mention nothing about Politics. So looks like you are the idiot DON. All I was talking about was football.
