Draft Day(s) Bonanza

What TV show did we have on at the Stop Shuler HQ this weekend? The NFL draft, of course (and the Sopranos -- but that’s another topic). Why? Because it is supremely relevant for two reasons:

  • It’s the time of year to talk about “draft busts” -- which ultimately means that Shuler’s name comes up.
  • It is somehow relaxing to watch Charley Casserly botch first round draft picks -- it's like sinking into a big comfortable chair (The Texans Did What? & The Wrong Guy).

In the draft bust category, ESPN.com called Shuler the #90 worst draft pick in any sport. Of course, they called him the 17th biggest flop of all time earlier -- so they're not very consistent.

Over on CBS Sportsline, the “Remember the '90s NFL Drafts” column picked Shuler as the guy to make fun of from the 1994 draft. The best quote?

"Unfortunately, his campaign platform is as well tuned as his 10-yard out pass. His 'issues' page on his campaign website mimics the general theme of his career. It’s 'coming soon.'"

On SI.com, they had a photo gallery of draft busts, and of course, did not forget our man Heath.

And, in the blogosphere, the folks at The Realests did a "where are they now?" with some notable draft busts.

And finally -- please, for the love of God -- will someone please take Michael Irvin off of television?
