The Shuler Record
Heath Shuler’s record the last time he was in Washington is nothing to be proud of. He was the #3 Overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft, but did not report to training camp until he got his 9-year, $19.25 million contract. He played in a total of 17 games over three years, and the Redskins went 4-13 in those games. After going back and forth with Gus Frerotte in 1994 & 1995, he lost the job permanently in 1996 season, and took only one snap that year. The result of that play? A fumble.
In 1997 he went to the Saints, adding to the list of curses that have saddled that franchise over the years.

You can look at his career stats here and here.
Here are the details of those infamous 17 games:
I feel so privileged to have found this site. I have already saved it to "My Favorites". On to the task at hand and I'll keep it short. I'm from the Washington area and am still a current resident. Once that douchebag got finished holding out for his millions, I saw him being interviewed on the local nightly news after a practice one day. The reporter said something to the effect of, "....do have any worries about how the fans will react to you having heldout as long as you did?" His answer was something like "...as far as I'm concerned the fans from Tennessee are the greatest fans in the world and until the fans in Washington prove me wrong, that's how I look at it. So, it doesn't bother me." What an asshole. Ban Heath Shuler from Washington! 'nuff said.

I actually went to college with Heath Shuler's first cousin. One day I asked him, "Why was Heath so terrible in the NFL? He was decent in college.
Heath's cousin responed, by saying something like this "Heath's a good athlete. But he's incredibly stupid. Anytime you try to talk to him about anything deep, his eyes just glaze over and you can tell he's lost.
He's just too dumb to read NFL defenses. I love him. He's my cousin, but he's an idiot.
It's pretty scary that he's running for Congress.

I remember back in 95 when Heath Shuler embarrassed himself against the Giants, Luckily the skins were +4.5, which was a lock. So thanks heath, thanks for the $1000.

Let me get this straight, you people are trying to judge a man's political abilities by his poor performance on the football field? Is this the best the incumbant congressman from Washington can muster? What ever happened to the days when people debated the actual issues at hand between 2 candidates? All I see here is a lame website dedicated to making it's creator and backer look ridiculous.

Heath was a natural athlete in his prime. It is a shame that those talents didn't seem to come through in the NFL. You can't blame him for all the lost games ... I mean teams don't get high draft picks because they are good!
Is he smart? well I don't know about that but he has $19 million and I don't.

Yes, I agree, Shuler was not very good as a quarterback in the NFL, however, he did make it to the NFL. Are you the "best" in your profession? Maybe your co-workers think you suck! Maybe your statistics regarding your work performance should be displayed on the internet for everyone to critic. Maybe you enjoy pointing the finger at others because it builds your ego. You can sleep well at night because you can think to yourself, "my life isn't so shitty, look at Shuler." It is psychology 101........ build yourself up by putting other people down. Who really gives a (bleep) about the career of Shuler? You are the same people who allow your day to be ruined if your favorite college or NFL team loses. Are you part of the team? Do you hang out with the players? Get a life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
